Agree what “delivered” means
Before work begins, confirm the five pages, single language, required features, revision arrangements, deliverables and actual start and end dates. A preview, a file handover and launch on your domain are different milestones. Agree which ones are included. Domain transfers or work involving another provider also need to be arranged in advance.
The six-part preparation checklist
- Page structure: a homepage and four inner pages, with a purpose for each.
- Approved copy: checked company details, services, prices and contact information.
- Images and logo: clear original files you can use, labelled by page.
- Design direction: agreed colours, visual preferences and references with an explanation of what you like.
- Enquiry routes: confirmed WhatsApp number, email address and expected button actions.
- A decision maker: one person who can combine feedback and approve the work.
Use one brief instead of scattered messages
Example brief: “We clean Hong Kong offices. We need Home, About, Services, Process and Contact in Chinese. The goal is WhatsApp quote enquiries. Our copy, logo and photos are approved. We want a clear, tidy design using navy and white.”
Add a list of essentials and a separate list of possible future additions. Memberships, payments, booking systems and multiple languages affect scope and require assessment and a separate quote. Raise them before the build starts.
Organise approvals into three stages
Before the build
Confirm content, assets, direction, scope and dates. Keep one shared approved version.
Build and preview
Review the agreed design. Combine feedback into one list specifying the page, location and requested change.
Delivery checks
Check desktop and mobile layouts, text, links and enquiry routes against the agreed deliverables.
These are preparation and approval stages, not promises that a specific stage will finish on a particular day. If content or functionality changes, the effect on timing and cost needs to be confirmed.
Check more than the appearance
- Company name, prices, address and contact details are correct.
- Text, images and buttons work comfortably on a phone.
- WhatsApp opens the correct conversation with an accurate message.
- The form clearly says whether it prepares a draft or actually submits an enquiry.
- If launch is part of the agreed delivery, the domain, HTTPS and main pages work.
